If you’ve made it this far and realized “oh God, Halloween is this weekend” and you don’t have a costume, you’ve come to the right place! Here I’ve laid out some truly last minute Halloween costumes you can build from things in your closet or lying around the house.
For this one, you’ll need to dress up in your favorite suit or dress, and carry a rose around. That’s it! You can buy as many roses as you’d like to give out throughout the night, or just the one rose to carry with you. Real roses are always a nice treat, but fake roses can be used as well.
Do you have a red zip-up jacket/hoodie, some jeans, and some sneakers? Perfect, you’ve got an Elliot costume ready to go, all from things you already have! Add a stuffed animal in a box with some fake handlebars if you’ve got the materials, and you’re a picture-perfect Elliot from ET.
I actually had to use this Rosie the Riveter last minute costume in college, and it works wonderfully! All you need is a denim shirt, a red bandana, and some red lipstick. I’d recommend denim bottoms, I used shorts because Florida doesn’t really know what fall is, but regular jeans will suffice as well. I recommend boots to complete the look.
For those in warmer climates this Halloween (or for those who will be inside), this is a super easy one to recreate. All you need is a button-down shirt, some white shorts (preferably boxers), and white crew socks. Add sunglasses and your fake microphone/hairbrush to sing into, and voila! The perfect low-effort closet costume of Tom Cruise from Risky Business!
A minion is one of the perfect closet costumes out there because the pieces can be used separately to create a variety of costumes. All you need is a yellow shirt and some overalls, or even just a yellow shirt and jeans will do. Bring a banana as an accessory which can later become a nutritious Halloween snack.
Here are a few other easy last minute Halloween costumes, centered around specific pieces you might already have at home:
With a pair of overalls, you can get a LOT of costumes. Some examples are:

This is the simplest of simple. These costumes will depend on the colors you have available:
Hopefully, you were able to use this list to figure out your Halloween costume with what you already have at home! I know this late in the game it’s hard to find anything Halloween-related left in the stores (the Christmas takeover began as early as 2-3 weeks ago in many stores), but hopefully, this saved you some time and some money on your Halloween costume!
